coffee culture waterloo, watami sushi & sake bar waterloo, street fair

Canada, oh Canada~ I really enjoyed my time with James at Waterloo. This time, I got to stay for an entire week and of course it was really sad to go. Even the most mundane things like dishes and grocery shopping is fun with him - and to me, those are surefire signs that someone is a keeper. He's working for the next eight months in California, so there's an even greater distance (and time difference!) between us. The next time we visit each other will possibly be in December or January, so that's quite a way to go...!

joju ny, coworkers

Michelle (second from left) and Brian (also second from left, in the back) left us earlier this month ;( Working at Joju was just a temporary summer job to them, but we all had tons of fun together. I love how close-knit we've become. Boss #2 took this picture with Michelle's Instax camera and I instantly regretted not bringing mine - which is why I'm bringing mine with me everywhere I go now!

Staff appreciation day, at Six Flags. This is my favorite picture out of the bunch. A week later, my legs are still sore from all that walking!

Some random ones. The first picture was raining while it was sunny, even though you can't really tell. I love it when that happens :) The second is the train station at 74th and Broadway, can we say hipster?

sushi, flushingfood.com, sarku japan

Ordered from flushingfood.com 'cause I was too lazy to cook anything for lunch. It's pretty awesome! It seems to be a delivery service for restaurants in Flushing, that don't do delivery. If you live around the Flushing area, I definitely recommend! They even delivered to a friend that lives in Fresh Meadows!

june + july, on instagram

Some of the food I ate recently, getting in touch with my inner foodie! I'm trying to eat a little healthier with more salads. I've also been drinking a lot of tea recently, the one pictured is cold steeped strawberry rhubarb parfait from David's Tea.

Speaking of trying to eat healthier, I can't. Because there's an ice cream cart across the street from where I work, and one of my coworkers, Big Wei (we have two people named Wei - Big Wei is a tall guy and Little Wei is a tiny girl, haha), spoils everyone by treating us once in a while. Big Wei also made us fried ice cream today! :9

I don't get why chocolate covered strawberries are so flippin' expensive when it's very easy to make! Wash and dry your strawberries thoroughly, melt some chocolate (I did it the lazy way in the microwave, 15-30 second intervals and stirring after each time), dip, and refrigerate for 15 or 20 minutes. Easy and (somewhat) healthy dessert!

Air travel can get very tiring, but the view from the airplane is always pretty. I went to visit my boyfriend in Canada sometime in June. Long distance sucks, but it's worth it!

fractal design define r4 with window / lazy galaxy nails

I upgraded my tower case! It's a Fractal Design Define R4, with the side window I always wanted (even though I don't keep my tower at a place where I can look at the inside). It's also super quiet, and I sometimes even forget that I had my computer on if I leave the room for a while. The only issue I have with it is that the back fan rattles just a little bit sometimes, but I think it's fixable if I weren't so lazy with doing so.

Again with the laziness, having a galaxy accent nail because I can't be bothered to do all ten of my fingers. I work as a barista so I have to wash my hands a lot - sadly, nail polish usually lasts 2 or 3 days before it starts to chip or peel.

stormtrooper keychain at the lego store, yeah!

Ending the post with this little guy that I got at the Lego store with Jessie, my coworker. We were the only ones there that didn't have kids, but there's no shame in that!

Hiiiii I'm still terrible at updating n_____n But let's see if this is an easier way for me to share the little things in life, since I don't think I can keep up with doing weekly life bits. I've also switched the commenting system over to Disqus. I've been getting more comments lately (thank you all! I appreciate that a lot, and I'll be getting back to you soon <3) but it's hard for me to keep up with Blogger's system, so let's see how this one works out. Please bear with me as I'm trying out new things for this blog!

packing, breakfast at cora's, flight back at pearson international

Uh, so how to begin this? I went to Canada to visit some friends early in May, for the second time. I think the story of how we met is quite interesting - online over video games, in high school. We played World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, and now Dota 2 among other games here and there. Back then I didn't even know these guys well and I wouldn't expect to meet them and have them turn out to be some of my closest friends.

We spent our time mostly playing board games, going out to eat, watching some Dota tournament, and sleeping. Well, it was mostly me sleeping while they were playing board games ("you basically flew over here to sleep the whole time," they say). The best part? Knowing that the guy I've liked years back has the same feelings all this time. It's funny really, since we were both kind of obvious (mostly me on that one) yet oblivious at the same time. I have a feeling that most of the other guys knew we were bound to happen sooner or later. It's a good feeling, yeahhhh n_____n

haul from the body shop. way too many cotton rounds to count.

The Body Shop had a 40% off sale, so that makes it a great excuse to stock up. And when I say stock up, I mean stock up on ten packages of their cotton rounds. James (my guy!) joked with "imagine if they use that instead of the packing peanuts," and he was right. I also got minis of some of their body butters, since I'm not keen on the idea of buying a huge one unless I'm sure I'll like the scent. And let me tell you, that grapefruit one smells gross to me.

leopard nails, chains, and bows

Lastly, some lame attempts at nail art. You (hopefully) can't tell, but the triangle leopard thang is totally off. I really wanted to experiment with chains because Sara Le does them often and WOW they are so hard to work with that I probably won't try them again in the near future. But they do look nice though. On her nails, not mine. Hard life.

And bows oooohhh! I've always wanted to try bows and stuff cause I think they look so cute on nails. Looks cute is the key word here, because it snags on everything and it's kind of annoying. It ended up falling off the next day at work. One of my coworkers is into nail art too. She had bows and other little decorative things on her nails once, and one of the bows fell into the iced coffee she was making. Thank goodness mine just fell into a storage bin.

Until next post,

28 December 2013

i'm back!

Yessss, hello! I'm not really sure what to write to re-introduce myself to blogging, so I guess I'll just insert some of my favorite Instagram pictures over the last six or so months with nifty captions. There's a gap around November - December because I dropped my phone in the toilet, oops. I got a new one not too long ago though!

My parents and I went to Canada for the summer. We went to some pretty awesome places like Parliament and Ausable Chasm (which was actually in New York), and did some pretty cool things like stand on the CN Tower's glass floor and eat at the revolving restaurant at Skylon Tower. The actual process of going to these places was so tiring, though. We went as a tour group so we woke up early, went to sleep late, and the whole thing was just really rushed. The best part was seeing my parents happy, so it was worth it :).

Obligatory sunset picture behind a very dusty hotel window, plus a cute cat plug for my (old) phone that I got in Toronto.

Birthday cakes from friends, yum :9

Other miscellaneous stuff. Hydrangeas in mom's front garden from the springtime, her flowers are always so pretty. Lumiere de Vie came out with a body lotion a while ago which I've been liking a lot. A pretty white rose. Being a deviled egg for Halloween. Questionably dyeing my hair bold colors - or at least, just the bottom part. And lastly Copi, one of the cutest dogs in the world ♥!
