life, lately #5

Hey guys! I apologize for the severe lack in posts for the past couple of days. I like posting 3-4 times a week/every other day but recently I found that it's tough to balance school, work, and a blog so I'll have to whittle it down to 2-3 posts a week instead. I haven't found time to reciprocate to all your kind and sweet comments either - it feels really overwhelming to have a backlog of comments to respond to and blogs to check out (I feel like it's my personal duty to reply/comment back on your blogs). But I'll get to that soon!

In the other random parts of life: I got a new planner! I know I got my other one less than half a year ago, but I felt like it was time for some change. Maybe half a year later, I'll get tired of this one and go back to the old one :P It tells a story of a cat and mouse with their travels in Spain throughout the pages. I'm getting some major inspiration from Angela at Paper Love Story, even though my pages look like a hot mess compared to hers. I really like writing down what I have to get done for the day so I gauge how far along I'm getting in my daily to-do's. Whether I actually get stuff done though, is a whole other story...



I went into Lush planning to get just Love Locket and No Drought and... I ended walking out with a lot more. I think that's the curse of walking into Lush: plan on buying two things, end up with ten more than you expected. I did give Tisty Tosty to one of my girlfriends as a cute Valentine's gift though. Her name is Ciara and we've been friends since elementary school, can you believe that?! We always saw each other in middle school, high school, and at our old college but we never really hung out or talked because we always had something to do or somewhere to go. She's in one of my classes this semester and it's pretty awesome getting to know her again. We still talk like we haven't been separated, though!

To say that I am currently obsessed with tea is an understatement. A few days after this order from David's Tea came in I went to Target with Pramod. I picked up another tin of tea and he gave me a look and said "You just spent $50 on tea!" I justified it with saying that I didn't get any green tea.

It's been soooo cold for the past few weeks. It's snowing pretty much every other day/two days and it's insane. I don't even remember the last time New York got so much snow. Sometimes it physically hurts to go outside because it's so bitterly cold and windy. James keeps obnoxiously reminding me that it's so beautiful and sunny every day in California, there usually isn't even a cloud in the sky.

life, lately #4

Succulents actually need to be watered frequently. Not super frequently, but they still need to be watered. It's true that they can survive without adequate amounts of water, but it doesn't mean that they should. Just like humans. And unfortunately mine has slightly shriveled leaves because I guess I didn't take the dry air from the heating into account. So I have to take back what I said when I first got it!



When Vanessa mentioned that she didn't finish a single book in 2014, I'm like, well shit, I didn't even pick up a single book in 2014. In my previous relationship my ex (angrily) voiced that fictional books were dumb because it wasn't even real, so therefore it was a waste of time. And being the pushover I was, I listened to him. I've said it once and I'll say it again: Never let someone change something you like to do. Unless you honestly agree that it's for the better. I guess it carried over even after we broke up, but now I'm making an effort to start reading again.

Currently I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, because Harry Potter is my favorite series and I haven't read any of the books in a long time. I'm starting off with Chamber of Secrets because I don't have the first book, and I don't think I have the sixth one either. It's a sad way to start off a series ;-; I don't think I'll buy the first book, because James has a copy and I'll ask if I can borrow it from him when he returns back to Canada. I like to read for about an hour before I go to sleep. It's a good way to end the day.



I'm really happy with where my blog is at the moment. I may not have the thousands of followers we all wish we had, but I'm really satisfied with my content. I think the most important thing is that I can genuinely say I enjoy all the aspects of blogging, from taking and editing pictures to writing posts to commenting and replying to comments. It was an on and off thing at first, but I think anyone who blogs - or anyone who has a hobby, really - feels like that from time to time. Sorry for the blurred out text though, those are upcoming blog posts that I am keeping a secret ;)

Classes started on the 28th, which was when my MetroCard conveniently expired. Who starts classes in the middle of the week anyway?? I have a bunch of electives and one art class because all the other art classes were full or the times were inconvenient for me. And the art class is at 8:00 on a Saturday morning, which is just dandy.

Breakfast at Pramod's, before we went to Ikea. He's turned into a coffee geek and won't shut up about it. Dat view from his apartment though, you can see Manhattan from there!

I bought the Kate Spade wallet I had on my wishlist! I almost always end up buying the things I have on there. I do put a lot of thought into wishlists, because it's more of a "buy this stuff later and don't blow your entire paycheck on it" list than anything.

Sulley's still hanging out by my neighbor's window. They've had him there for weeks. He's endured the rain and the cold for quite a while now, I wonder if they're going to take him back inside?

life, lately #2

Life lately. I guess this can be series where I dump a few of the random/forgotten photos and update you guys on the little things that don't quite fit into a regular post...

• Last week, I booked tickets to California to visit James during the Thanksgiving holiday cause he's working there on co-op. I'm really excited! I managed to find a good price last minute (it's last minute considering I'm booking around a holiday), which I feel really lucky for. I've never been to California before, so I guess one of the good things about a long distance relationship is getting to travel :)
• I bought a tub of CeraVe recently. I've been lurking on /r/SkincareAddiciton for a while and learned that a high price tag on skincare doesn't necessarily mean it's better than a lower-priced item, and that sometimes basic is the best. CeraVe in the tub is HUGE considering it's only about $16. It's my first time trying a drugstore moisturizer and I hope I really like it - most people seem to - cause that means my skin will be happy without killing my wallet!

So uh, what's up with you guys?

life, lately

I would like to start off this post by saying oh my glob, I met Nitraa B on Friday at her meet and greet in Queens Center Mall! Someone offered to take a picture of us, but I found out my phone camera crashed and I got a grey block as the picture after I left. I thought it'd be awkward to go back to ask for another one. I'm such a wimp. /cries

Anyway, this is a compilation of some of the more interesting pictures I've taken during my break. I was debating on whether to show off my Sephora purchases during the sale, but I think I will save that for next post. It should deserve a post on its own, yes? :)

Some of the few pictures I took in Canada - the closest I've been to a squirrel ever, and the flight back at night. I remember it being really cloudy so I couldn't see much of the lights after takeoff.

....and guess what, I'm going back! I'll try to take more pictures next time~

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles band aids in Target!! I remember when their movie came out in 2007, nobody wanted to watch it with me so I literally went to watch it by myself while my mom and sister watched something else. 

And finally, some of the stuff I've been watching on my time away. I'm sure many people have heard of Card Captor Sakura, it was one of my favorites as a kid! Now that I'm older (and have better senses), I prefer the English subbed version over dub. The voice acting is pretty terrible in most dubbed anime anyway. And don't even get me started about the censorship on the slight homosexual hints in the American version - even though this is a show intended for kids. Just my opinion of course. I will only silently judge you.

Valve came out with a documentary, Free to Play. It revolves the lives of a few professional DotA2 players who competed for a million dollar grand prize. There's a lot more to say about this, but I don't even know where to begin. And when I do there will be paragraphs upon paragraphs on this subject, so I won't. You'll just have to trust me and watch it - I think (hope) it will make sense even if you aren't familiar with games like this. Even Jeremy Lin says DotA is a way of life ;)
