This is inspired by Grace's post. Also because I never really wrote about myself, and it'll be pretty neat to look at this at the end of this year and see what's changed.
So, hi. My name is Becky, and I'm a 22-year old living in New York City.
This is my boyfriend. His name is James, and we were part of a group of friends that played video games together. He's originally from around the Toronto area in Canada (and so are the rest of those friends) but he's working in California for the next few months.
I really like playing video games. Some of my favorites are (were?) Starcraft 2, Killing Floor, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Dota 2, though I haven't been playing a lot recently. Most of my gaming buddies don't play that often anymore due to ~real life~ things to take care of and well, it's not as fun without them. I remember working my way up to gold from bronze in Starcraft 2 and I was so proud of myself! Maybe I'll start playing again, sometime this year.
The one thing I've started collecting lately is notebooks, journals, and planners. Most of these were purchased pretty recently, so that's why I say lately. I'm trying to get as much use as I can out of them - in fact I've even started planning out my posts in that panda notebook, though I got that one about a year ago. Realistically I won't be using more than two or three at once, but I dunno. It makes me happy. Other things I collect are the 250-point perfume Sephora perks, and mugs.
I love makeup. When I was younger I didn't really see a purpose in makeup and I thought that only people who were self-conscious about themselves wore it. Now I see makeup as another art in a way, I love how you can change up your look - almost like it's a part of my style. I choose to wear makeup because I have so much fun putting it on, and when I think it looks good my confidence goes up 10000%.
For the longest time I've been out of touch with my crafty side. Up until 3 or 4 years ago, I loved making things from handmade cards to journals to drawing. I also really liked baking things, and I remember once my mom even compared the birthday cheesecake I made for her to a Juniors one. I hope to catch up on that again, this year.
I've been out of school for a while, and I'm going back this year to pursue graphic design. Ideally I'd like to work for myself - as in, not be stuck with a typical 9-5. I don't know what I want to really do for my future yet, but if anything I know I'll have my degree with something I'm interested in doing to fall back on.
I chose "Star Violet" as my blog name from the first MAC eyeshadow I bought, called Star Violet. It's the one in the bottom corner. I really liked it because of the name, I love learning about astronomy and my favorite color is purple. I dropped it on floor once and it completely shattered, but I was able to save it by pressing it back in the pan which explains the weird texture. I've had other blogs before, but this is my most consistent one and I'm very happy with it.
