life, lately #5

starbucks you are here san francisco mug

Hey guys! I apologize for the severe lack in posts for the past couple of days. I like posting 3-4 times a week/every other day but recently I found that it's tough to balance school, work, and a blog so I'll have to whittle it down to 2-3 posts a week instead. I haven't found time to reciprocate to all your kind and sweet comments either - it feels really overwhelming to have a backlog of comments to respond to and blogs to check out (I feel like it's my personal duty to reply/comment back on your blogs). But I'll get to that soon!

artbox planner

artbox cat and mouse planner

In the other random parts of life: I got a new planner! I know I got my other one less than half a year ago, but I felt like it was time for some change. Maybe half a year later, I'll get tired of this one and go back to the old one :P It tells a story of a cat and mouse with their travels in Spain throughout the pages. I'm getting some major inspiration from Angela at Paper Love Story, even though my pages look like a hot mess compared to hers. I really like writing down what I have to get done for the day so I gauge how far along I'm getting in my daily to-do's. Whether I actually get stuff done though, is a whole other story...

lush haul

I went into Lush planning to get just Love Locket and No Drought and... I ended walking out with a lot more. I think that's the curse of walking into Lush: plan on buying two things, end up with ten more than you expected. I did give Tisty Tosty to one of my girlfriends as a cute Valentine's gift though. Her name is Ciara and we've been friends since elementary school, can you believe that?! We always saw each other in middle school, high school, and at our old college but we never really hung out or talked because we always had something to do or somewhere to go. She's in one of my classes this semester and it's pretty awesome getting to know her again. We still talk like we haven't been separated, though!

david's tea haul

To say that I am currently obsessed with tea is an understatement. A few days after this order from David's Tea came in I went to Target with Pramod. I picked up another tin of tea and he gave me a look and said "You just spent $50 on tea!" I justified it with saying that I didn't get any green tea.

window frost

It's been soooo cold for the past few weeks. It's snowing pretty much every other day/two days and it's insane. I don't even remember the last time New York got so much snow. Sometimes it physically hurts to go outside because it's so bitterly cold and windy. James keeps obnoxiously reminding me that it's so beautiful and sunny every day in California, there usually isn't even a cloud in the sky.

  1. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON COCOMINT CREAM BECAUSE IT TASTES LIKE DILL PICKLE TO ME AND I DON'T LIKE IT :(
    I have an entire box full of tea in the office and I don't even know how it got that bad. I really need to up my tea consumption to keep up with the rate I'm buying tea at ;-;

  2. It was soooooo cold in California today...70 degrees, oh my! ;) I feel you girl as I have a ton of comments I haven't replied to yet, and I just want to read and comment on all the blogs I follow too, ugh! I've only bought the original chai tea from David's Tea, but please tell me your other recommendations as I'm getting quite obsessed with tea lately :) Seeing all your lovely Lush purchases makes me want to go right now...why Becky why?!

  4. I really need to invest in a good planner and force myself to use it... but it never works out that way haha! I've been drinking this coconut and almond tea like crazy and it's basically gone... unfortunately it's not on sale anymore and I'm not digging the $20 price point

  7. Love your planner, you have beautiful handwriting! I never think to write what blog posts are coming up in my diary - such a good idea. I've only recently gone into Lush, I always thought it was mainly bath bombs and I'm more of a shower girl really but I went in and could have bought everything!

  8. I feel the same way about balancing life and blogging and all that stuff. When I first started a blog, I never anticipated how time consuming it would be. I'm also working through a bit of a backlog with comments which makes me feel crappy, but when people take time to write such thoughtful and meaningful responses, I want to respond to that with the same care, you know? I don't just want to say "Thanks for reading!!" in response to a paragraph.

Your planner looks amazing! I should take some notes and get mine a bit more organized :)

  11. I'd love to read a post on how you organize and plan your blog/posts; from the looks of your planner you seem to be doing a great job :) And I know what you mean about comments; I try to put aside some time in the morning or at night to respond to everything but it can surely feel stressful sometimes, definitely don't feel bad about it! Also, we could seriously connect over our tea obsession.

  12. YO I THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING WEIRD ABOUT IT TOO. I tried to like it cause I love coconut in tea, and something coconutty and minty sounded really good but the actual tea kind of stinks. I was expecting it to be like rooibos or green or black tea but I guess it's partly my fault for being all oooooh this sounds tasty *puts in cart* *doesn't read description or ingredients* but yeah I don't like it either and now I don't know what to do with it :(

  13. Boooo, it's cold to you cause you're a native to California! Currently I'm really liking their cream of earl grey + red velvet cake teas for my milk tea. Oddly enough I don't prefer drinking black tea unless it's super weak, but I love my milk teas to be super strong. So for my milk tea I make it super strong and I reuse the tea leaves throughout the day so works out in the end haha.

I kinda regret getting so much at Lush cause I know I'm not going to be able to finish it up soon. But at least I won't have to make extra trips there I guess :P

  14. Hahaha, I used to be the same way! I just put anything down: chores, errands, assignments - heck even expected delivery dates for stuff I buy online so I can fill it up and seem like I have a lot of things to do :P But it does feel pretty great checking things off since I'm, well, terrible at getting stuff done!

  15. Haha I was the same way until recently, dunno what made me change. Coconut and almond tea sounds tasty! I didn't think weird additives like that would make tea taste so good.

  16. I love the look of moleskine planners! But unfortunately it's a little too plain for my eclectic taste haha.

  17. Yeah, planners are the best if you can actually stick to using them! Makes me feel like I've got my shit together, haha.

  18. Thank you! Unfortunately that's my "I'm trying to write nicely" handwriting, my actual handwriting is a mess. I guess that's what Lush does to you, but it's a good thing that most of their products last forever (cause let's face it, I'm not going to take a bath every day even though I want to!) so even if you do buy a lot it's gonna be a long time before the next purchase :)

  19. Same here - I guess the secret is to tackle on comments for like, 15 minutes a day instead of backlogging everything haha. I think having a colorful planner makes even chores seem a little more fun ;)

  20. Haha there isn't much to it for me - I do have a process that I go through for my blog posts but honestly I don't even follow it half the time!

I think it would be a lot easier to set 15 or 30 minutes a day to write back, but life just gets in the way sometimes that I forget.
