neon ♥ love

urban decay electric palette

A day too late to label this as a Valentine's Day makeup look, but I doubt anyone would actually wear this out for Valentine's Day. Lately I've been super inspired by some of the crazy makeup that Sugarpill features, and Dominique's work as well. When I finished my eye makeup, the colors reminded me of those bright neon signs and they're kinda romantic? I can't get over how stoic I look in these pictures, though. I swear I try to smile, but I end up looking like a doofus so I don't.

I have a piece of egg at the corner of my mouth. I ate before taking pictures and didn't realize... and it also shows that I rarely wipe my mouth clean after eating LOL. I was contemplating on cropping it out but I decided hey, this kind of stuff happens to everyone so there's no use in trying to appear as perfect as possible.

This would've looked so badass with some false lashes instead of my measly lil stubs. I'll have to play around a little more to get used to applying them/not risking them falling off mid-day. If I were to do this look again, I would blend the pink and blue shades to get a blended purple over the center of the lid so it wouldn't resemble the American flag as much.

I'd also like to take this time to thank you guys for all the sweet comments on all the makeup-on-my-face posts. I actually used to be super conscious about putting my face on the internet - even on Facebook, where I pretty much everyone knows how I look like! I'm curious, do or did you guys personally have any feelings like that?

  1. YOU ARE SO GORGEOUS! I also died when you said you had egg on your mouth because I relate to that so much! I'm always slightly embarrassed to take a photo and realize there was something on my face....but not too embarrassed to do the whole thing over again!

    Again, gorgeous look!

  5. A single teardrop for how ~stoic~ (more like modelesque) your face is in these photos. And for how on point your eyebrows are. Also, would not have noticed the egg (but it's ok, I eat while taking selfies for the blog sometimes SO YEAH)

As for face on the internet, when I first started my blog, I was terrified of putting my face out there because you never know who's seeing them??? But I slowly started putting them up, and it's quite handy for face swatches. These days, I'm all 'meh' when I see my face on Google Images, so.

  7. You are the contouring queen! I am always so jealous at how seamless your makeup is, and maybe one day I'll attempt at posting a makeup look...But I mean if it's so hard for me to take pictures of products, so I think I would die trying to take pictures of myself!

  9. I love this makeup look!! Those colors look awesome on you becky! Sometimes I don't smile in the pictures either because I feel like my smile looks funny haha so don't worry! And I've always been sort of self conscious about putting pictures of my face on the Internet and stuff too. I don't know why and I feel like I have to take a ton of pictures before I can get the right one

  12. This is so rad, really well done and created! Oh, I have the worst lashes as well and have completely given up on doing anything to them (they refuse to curl of look good with mascara.) Also I have to say I love the photos on your blog, so beautiful and soft :)

  13. GIRL, is it weird if I say that you have the most amazing cheek bones I've ever seen?? Seriously though.

I've been wearing a really neutral makeup look lately but these posts of yours are inspiring me to get a bit more colourful and creative with my routine!

  17. Haha, it seems like everyone has something to say about my eyebrows whether it looks good or making me look like I have chronic bitchface.

I think I'm slowly warming up to putting pictures of myself online now - I remember before I'd get so nervous when I would hit the publish button! I agree that it's a lot better to see how products sit on the face rather than just a swatch on a hand or arm, plus I feel like there's more personality once you can match face to blog.

  18. You should! It won't happen without that first step :)

It took me years to get my makeup to look that "good" - it feels like I'm being conceited but that's not my intention!! I guess what I'm trying to say is, it didn't happen overnight haha. It's a ton of practice and a lot of thinking you look good but actually looking hella orange and unblended LOL

  19. LOL I get you on taking a ton of pictures! Sometimes I take 100+ just to have 4 or 5 that I like. I could never tell that you'd be self conscious though, but maybe it's cause you do it all the time!

Thanks so much for the kind comments <3

  21. Thanks so much! Even if I put mascara on I don't feel like it's enough haha - but at least I have lashes :P Recently for the past few days I've been LOVING false lashes, they add so much drama to any eye look.

  22. Not weird at all! I remember a long time ago, my boyfriend (we weren't dating at the time) said one of the first things he noticed about me is my high cheekbones and I wasn't wearing any makeup that morning. I guess I really like overdoing it by piling on more makeup to make my cheekbones pop out more, haha!

I really love makeup! I see it as an art in a kind of way. I dunno, it's kind of therapeutic for me to take my sweet time in the morning doing my makeup whether I'm going for a neutral or nutjob look.

  23. Haha, I've gotten that a couple of times - but I honestly don't see the resemblance besides the fact that we're both asian :P

Thanks so much for the reassurance, I feel like I'm staring down at whoever is looking at my picture!
