Quite a few of you guys noted that you'd be interested in a more in-depth review for this mask, so here we are. I wanted to get some more use out of this before I wrote my review for a more well-rounded opinion (I thought this was too good to be true!), but it's stayed the same since day one :)

I'm usually not a fan of Origins skincare - I've only tried their microdermabrasion and GinZing moisturizer and they irritated the heck out of my skin and broke me out, respectively. But since my sister had this when she visited in December and I desperately needed a clay mask, so I gave it a try.

Freshly applied, and about ten minutes later. The area I put the mask on instantly became smoother and softer after I washed it off. I didn't notice it at first, because I usually jump in the shower to wash it off and go straight into my facial cleanser.

The results: I love this! It's the first mask I've tried that doesn't irritate my skin, which is the pickiest when it comes to face masks. I've tried some well-loved masks, from Queen Helene's mint julep mask to Ren's glycol lactic radiance renewal mask to the Korres greek yogurt sleeping facial, and even Glamglow Thirstymud, they all gave my skin a burning feeling. Not this one, though!

I use it mostly for spot treating. If a pimple starts peeking out, I'll put some on it as soon as possible. I also use it for the area where the bottom sides of my nose meets my face because it gets clogged up pretty easily and starts feeling tender to the touch. The results aren't instantaneous, but there's a major difference by next morning, if it hasn't disappeared by then. I rarely do my entire face, but when I do I notice it looks brighter. This mask is definitely a keeper.

Last-minute fun before washing it off. If you can even categorize this as fun.

  1. I'm a really big fan of this face mask - I'm on my third tube now! I get the same tingling sensation from Glam Glow but my Origins masks never irritates me skin - but it is tricky to get off! xx

  4. I've had so many bad experiences with skin care products that really irritate my skin. I think my face just likes to have an allergic reaction to things sometimes. ;) I've been looking for a good mask for a while though and have also had mixed experiences with previous Origins products. Interested to give this a try though!

  5. Great review becky! I really want to try to this out! Im always afraid that masks will burn my face too, and a glam glow one I had a sample of did really bad!

  6. I'm glad you enjoy this mask! I personally found it ok-ish, as it didn't do much cleansing for me, and I usually rely on other cleansing masks to soothe potential breakouts. I am a fan of Queen Helene's Mint Julep though (THAT STUFF IS LIKE, INDUSTRIAL), but I didn't enjoy Glamglow either! Tried one of their tingling masks...and I felt like my face was going to burn off (I mean, it says 'tingling' in the name, BUT STILL. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE :()

  11. I'm ridiculously sensitive when it comes to skin care so I'm glad to hear about this! I don't even really need this, but the concept is so intriguing that I might have to pick up a sample!

  12. Glad you liked this! I'm on the fence. I think it works, but it makes my face feels like it's on fire for the first 2 minutes. I have no idea why because I would have never said my skin was sensitive before this.

  13. Talk about loyalty! Ah yes, I should have mentioned that the texture is almost gel-like compared to the other clay masks I've tried, but oh well :P

  14. Huh, I always thought it was just me cause a lot of people rave about Origins. I've never heard of the mega mushroom line. Hearing it makes me think of a huge portobello mushroom burger and it makes me hungry haha.

  15. Yeah, it's great for controlling oil. Agreed, mine doesn't even look like I've used it!

  16. Oddly enough most skincare products don't irritate my skin - I only have a hard problem with masks! There are some DIY masks you can do with food you can eat which I think is the best, though I haven't found one that sucks out oils.

  17. I thought I was the only one that got burning reactions from masks! My sister really liked the glamglow thirstymud one so I ended up giving it to her :P

  18. In terms of effectiveness I love Queen Helene's Mint Julep mask (masque??)! Unfortunately it does tingle a lot for me, which is something I don't really like ;-; Glad I'm not the only alien not liking Glamglow, everyone else raves about them!

  19. Might want to look into your diet as well - I'm lucky enough to have my mom's skin which isn't prone to breakouts except near that dastardly time of month, but some of my friends that have suffered from constant breakouts say that healthier eating habits + more water intake helped them a lot :)

  20. I get a very slight tingling sensation at the beginning sometimes as well, though I definitely wouldn't classify mine as burning - I should have mentioned that!
