nails | accidentally matte...

matte nails! with stars!
I guess this is what happens when you're being cheap. My Sally Hansen Insta-Dri topcoat is slowly turning gloopy, 'cause I've been using it for quite a while now. I've been able to use some nail polish thinner to restore it here and there, but I was surprised when it dried matte this time! It still works as a fast-drying topcoat, but I wonder why it's not shiny anymore... Oh well, at least I've got myself a matte topcoat now!

gorgeous gerbena from flower beauty, white out from china glaze
I used Gorgeous Gerbena from Flower on most of my nails - which I don't recommend because it's thin and streaky but still manages to get gloopy on the brush, even though I like the color a lot. On my accent nail, I used White Out from China Glaze, and stuck some of these pretty little stars on.

more stars!
I thought that these just came in a baggie of mixed colors, but nooo, you have to choose them (hard life). I felt stupid when I received just the purple ones in the mail, but it turns out one of my friends thought the same too. Maybe we're both stupid, hah.

Until next post,
Becky

  1. Love these colors together on your nails! And the stars are so fun. I love little things like that, but I always pick them off eventually, haha.

    1. I'm pretty good at not picking little things like that off, but I do have a tendency to pick off 2-3 day old polish...

  4. Cute nails!! I like how the coral color looks matte! You can always put your nail polish in the fridge to keep it from getting too thick :)

    1. Sadly uh, I have too much nail polish to do that to my fridge. It's so unnecessary really, I even have a post-it reminder to stop buying so much nail polish but I still do anyway u____u

    1. WOW uh, that's such a huge compliment to me! Personally I think I have close to no sense of color combinations, but I am very flattered nonetheless n_____n

  7. Your nails look so pretty..! I've never worn a matte nail polish before. but it actually looks really classic.. I have a pretty old Sally Hansen Insta Dri Top Coat which I haven't used in a while.. I think I'll add some nail polish thinner to it to see if it turns into a matte top coat like yours did! Great post :) x

  9. Thank you! This is the first time trying out (I guess you can say trying out?) matte polish - it chips so easily for me. Probably because it's not a legit matte topcoat, haha. Hope you have good luck with yours!
